Fox Hill Supercross

Fox Hill, Diyatalawa is the venue for the annual Fox Hill Supercross organized by the Sri Lanka Military Academy, one of the premier motor racing events in the country. It is usually held in April.
Fox Hill gets its name due to the inscription of a fox made by the British soldiers with thousands of quartz and rough stones scattered over the mountain range.

Nuwara Eliya

Nuwara Eliya which is called Little England is just one and quarter hour drive (40 km) from Diyatalawa.

Our country has both winter and summer at the same time. Nuwara Eliya lies 1902m above sea level. The climate here is mild, and generally warm and temperate. The rainfall in Nuwara Eliya is significant, with precipitation even during the driest month. According to Köppen and Geiger, this climate is classified as Cfb (temperate oceanic climate). The average annual temperature in Nuwara Eliya is 16.3 °C | 61.4 °F. The rainfall here is around 2050 mm | 80.7 inches per year.

Dova Rock Temple

Dova Raja Maha Viharaya lies few kilometres away from the Bandarawela town on the Bandarawela - Badulla Road. This temple is believed to be made by King Walagamba in the first century BC. The temple has gained popularity due to its massive 38 ft Buddha Statue carved in granite. It is half an hour drive (13 km) from Diyatalawa.

Lipton's Seat, St. Catherine's Seat and Pilkington Point

Situated in the Poonagala hills with breath-taking views. Some people called the place “the Second World’s End”, due to its striking similarities. A section of the estate leads toward Koslanda Valley. They are within about one hour drive (around 25 km) from Diyatalawa.

Golf Course in Diyatalawa

GOLF CLUB Sri Lanka was relatively unknown to the field of Golf before the governance of the British, who used to play golf at Polo Grounds, an exceptional natural Golf course in Diyatalawa. Later, with much popularity, Diyatalawa Golf Club was formed. Subsequently, the Sri Lanka Army took over the Golf Club from the British. Visitors can use it after paying a fee.

Waterfalls

Rawana Ella (131ft in height) and Diyaluma (628ft in height) are magnificent waterfalls in the region. Rawana Ella is situated on the Ella-Wellawaya main road 15 km from Diyatalawa and Diyaluma is situated near Koslanda village 37 km from the Diyatalawa.

Just 60 minute drive (38 km) from Diyatalawa one can visit Sri Lanka’s most renowned waterfall – Dunhinda. This is on the Mahiyanganaya Road, about 5 km from Badulla. Flowing from Badulu Oya, the 210 ft high Dunhinda, is surrounded by mountains and jungle. It is truly a glorious sight.

Adisham Monastery

This old Colonial British planters' bungalow was converted into a monastery by an industrious team of monks. Bordering the Tangamalai bird sanctuary, the garden is home to blue magpies, paradise flycatchers, green barbets, brilliant orange plumaged mini-verts hornbills, golden orioles & a host of other bird life. It is half an hour drive (12 km) away from Diyatalawa.

Demodara Railway Station

Demodara railway station is a wonderful design of Sri Lankan Railway situated at a height of 2990 ft. (911.61 Meters) from sea level. The length of the Demodara tunnel which runs beneath the railway station is 1049 ft (320 meters). Construction of the tracks known as “looping to loop” was the brain child of the late Mr. D. J. Wimalasurendra who was a renowned Sri Lankan engineer. It is 40 minute drive (21 km) away from Diyatalawa.

Ella Gap

Ella, well-known tourist town, is just 40 minute drive (20 km) away and it is famous due to the Ella Gap - a spectacular gap in the southern mountain wall where the land falls away in a scenic drop of 3,000 feet to the southern plains and the sea.

Ella Nine Arch Bridge

The Nine Arch Bridge also called the Bridge in the Sky, is a viaduct bridge in Sri Lanka. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. It is 45 minute drive (20km) away from Diyatalawa.

Buduruwagala

The name Buduruwagala means “the rock with the statue of Buddha” and this is exactly what it is. Seven figures are carved in this rock with a massive 51 foot Buddha statue in the Abhaya Mudra gesture at the centre. The rock itself has the form of a kneeling elephant with its head down. It is located in Wellawaya about 60 km from Diyatalawa.

Horton Plains National Park

Horton Plains National Park is a national park in the central highlands of Sri Lanka that was designated in 1988. It is located at an elevation of 2,100–2,300 m (6,900–7,500 ft) and encompasses montane grassland and cloud forest. It is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region. It is about one hour 15 minute drive (30 km) away from Diyatalawa.

World's End

World's End is located within the Horton Plains National Park in Nuwara Eliya. It is a sheer cliff, with a drop of about 4,000 feet (1,200 m). It is one of the most visited parts of the Park, and a key tourist attraction in the Nuwara Eliya District and the country at large. One km away from the main cliff is a smaller cliff with a 1,000 feet (300 m) drop, colloquially known as Mini World's End. The Indian Ocean, 81 km to the south, can be observed on clear days.

Baker's Falls is a famous waterfall in Sri Lanka. It is located in the Horton Plains National Park, on a tributary of the Belihul Oya.

The height of the Baker's waterfalls is 20 metres (66 ft). The falls were named after British explorer and big game hunter, Sir Samuel Baker. Many Rhododendron and Fern bushes can be seen around the waterfall.
